Leadership briefing
14 questions Chief & Council may ask.
Clear answers based on the current TRU Nations Golf proposal and brochure. Every project remains subject to Nation direction, due diligence, approvals and written agreements.
Start with the right questions TODAY.
For informed consideration
Start with the practical questions.
These answers distinguish the proposed concept from commitments that must still be confirmed for a specific project.
1. What is a Golf Community Centre?
A proposed Nation-directed, year-round recreation centre combining a connected indoor RANGE, individual APOGEE simulator bays, MultiSport, community programming and optional hospitality. Each Nation determines whether the concept fits its priorities.
2. Do we need to construct a new building?
Not necessarily. A Nation may explore a new building, an addition or the conversion of a suitable existing facility. Site condition, clearances, accessibility, power, internet, ventilation, approvals and budget must be assessed before a direction is selected.
3. Are the facility concepts fixed packages?
No. The current 3-Bay, 5-Bay, 5+3 and Double 5 concepts are working planning examples. Final size, layout, amenities and technology require Nation approval, site review and professional design.
4. Is a commercial kitchen required?
No. A kitchen is an option. Its size, location, cost and effect on the final layout are determined during site-specific planning.
5. What is available for people who do not golf?
Every individual APOGEE bay can include MultiSport activities. The broader concept may also support family recreation, youth programming, gatherings, viewing, instruction, events and hospitality, subject to the Nation’s chosen design and operating plan.
6. Can community access remain a priority?
Yes. The Nation can establish community-use hours, youth and school programming, member pricing, public bookings and event priorities within its operating plan. Leadership determines how access and revenue objectives are balanced.
7. Who owns and operates the facility?
The Nation’s approved operator would run daily scheduling, staffing and bookings. Land and buildings remain outside TRU Nations Golf’s proposed interest. Any operating-business partnership, ownership interest, governance structure or management role must be set out in a project-specific written agreement approved by the Nation.
8. What would TRU Nations Golf provide?
The agreed scope may include facility and operating planning, the simulator interior build-out, approved technology and software coordination, installation, operating procedures, training and advisory support. Responsibilities, exclusions, pricing and continuing services must be itemized in the project proposal.
9. What will the project cost?
There is no single price before site and scope are confirmed. A complete budget should separate land and building work, professional design, technology, installation, furniture, golf clubs, optional kitchen equipment, software, training, contingency, opening costs and working capital.
10. How could the facility generate revenue or recover costs?
Potential sources include bookings, memberships, leagues, instruction, events, hospitality, sponsorship and retail. Each opportunity requires local market testing and a three-year operating model. TRU Nations Golf does not guarantee revenue, profitability or cost recovery.
11. Can grants, funders or sponsors support the project?
They may be explored, but availability and eligibility depend on the project, Nation and funder. No grant, sponsorship or financing outcome should be assumed until it is confirmed in writing. Capital and operating plans should identify the funding gap and the Nation’s potential exposure.
12. What training, warranty and service are included?
The project proposal should identify staff training, software administration, technical support, warranty handling, response responsibilities and annual care. Golf clubs, subscriptions, screen replacement and ongoing service should be itemized rather than assumed.
13. What happens before opening, and how long will it take?
The process begins with a Nation-led needs and site assessment, followed by scope, feasibility, budget, approvals, professional design, procurement, construction or renovation, installation, training and commissioning. Timing depends on the selected site, design, approvals, funding, equipment and construction schedule; it should be confirmed through a project plan rather than promised in advance.
14. What is the status of the TRU Nations Cup?
The TRU Nations Cup is an in-development vision for Nation-to-Nation competition. Formats, dates, eligibility, participating Nations, sponsorship and any prize purse have not been finalized and remain subject to planning and written agreements.
